CV Retail Sales Figure May 2025: Total CV (commercial vehicle) sales in the Indian market stood at 75,615 units in May 2025, whereas in the previous month i.e. April 2025, 85,203 units were sold.

CV Retail Sales Figure May 2025– Segment-wise Breakdown
Let us tell you that 44,419 units of light commercial vehicles were sold in May 2025, but there has been a decline of 4.93% on MoM basis and a decline of 3.6 % YoY compared to last year.
While 6772 units of medium commercial vehicles were sold in May 2025, but there has been a MoM decline of 4.47% this month compared to last month and there has been a YoY growth of 6.49% this year compared to last year and this is a bright spot in the medium commercial vehicle segment.

24382 units of heavy commercial vehicles were sold in May 2025 but this month there has been a MoM decline of 22.8% compared to the previous month and a YoY decline of 7.06% compared to the previous year.
The biggest reason for the decline in sales of heavy commercial vehicles is the impact of freight and mining slowdown.
CV Retail Sales Figure May 2025– OEM-wise Performance
In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors Company was at the number one position in the May 2025 sales report, which sold 26100 units, Tata Motors Company also has the highest market share of 34.52%.
Mahindra Company was at the number two position, which sold 19816 units, if we talk about market share, then the market trade of Mahindra Company is 26.21 percent.

Ashok Leyland Company was at the number three position, which sold 13763 units in May 2025 and sold 128 units more this year as compared to last year i.e. May 2024, and the market share is also 18.20 percent, you can see the sales report of other commercial vehicle maker companies in a better way in the table given below.
Reasons Behind the Decline

The third biggest reason is high prices & price hikes because inflation and rising input costs in India have greatly affected the commercial vehicle segment and the fourth biggest reason is lower freight cycles because lower freight cycles are slowing down due to seasonal or microeconomics slowdown.
