Maruti Victoris – Overview
Maruti Suzuki’s most advanced and high-tech SUV is available in India with three powertrain options, including a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine as the standard petrol variant.
The second CNG bi-fuel version is available, which has a 1.5-liter engine but can run on both CNG and petrol.
The third engine option is a 1.5-liter petrol-electric hybrid engine, but Maruti has now developed a fourth powertrain option: a biogas variant, which will be showcased soon.
Maruti Victoris Bio Gas Variant
The Victoris Bio Gas Variant will be showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. This variant will be based on the CNG version, with features like an underbody CNG tank and dual-cylinder tech.
The standard 1.5-liter four-cylinder K15 NA engine will be slightly modified to ensure cleaner combustion for biogas.
Now, regarding the difference between CNG and CBG, let us tell you that CNG is compressed natural gas, which is a fossil fuel, naturally occurring and non-renewable, meaning it will eventually run out.
CBG is compressed biogas, made from methane gas generated from decaying organic waste such as agricultural residue and municipal waste.
This is a renewable fuel that can be produced quickly. This fuel will reduce pollution, clean cities, and create employment opportunities.
